Rebuilding the brake system
I finally gathered all the parts to fully overhaul the brake system, this is something I wanted to do for ages.
The pistons on the front and rear calipers were corroded and sticking, causing the brake pads to wear unevenly. One side would be completely worn while the other was still like new. The flexi brake lines were perishing, and you had to put serious pressure on the pedal to get any confidence in stopping.
The previous owner had converted the rear axle to a Discovery 1 setup (originally it had drum brakes), which made it easy to bolt on a full set of new calipers.
I replaced everything, all brake lines (hard and flexi), master cylinder, brake booster, PRV, front vented discs, and all four calipers.
Check out my most recent YouTube video for a detailed breakdown of the parts used and installation process.
